Terms of Service
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Minoko’s websites, mobile applications, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).
The Service is operated by Kasai Connect (“Minoko”, “we”, “us”), registered at Lensmannsbakken 1, 1718 Greåker, Sarpsborg, Norway. Contact: info@minoko.app
1) Acceptance of these Terms
By accessing or using any part of the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms, and by documents incorporated by reference (including our Privacy Policy and Community Guidelines). If you do not agree, you may not use the Service.
2) The Service
Minoko provides language-learning experiences such as bite-sized lessons, games, dictionaries, and audio-based learning tools. We may update, modify, suspend, or discontinue parts of the Service at any time.
3) Eligibility
You must be able to form a legally binding contract in your place of residence. If you are under the age of majority (or the applicable age of digital consent), you may use the Service only with a parent or guardian’s permission and supervision.
4) Accounts
- You agree to provide accurate and up-to-date information.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
- Notify us if you believe your account has been compromised.
5) Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Service. In particular, you will not:
- Break the law or infringe the rights of others.
- Upload or share content that is illegal, hateful, harassing, threatening, or abusive.
- Attempt to access or interfere with the Service, accounts, or systems without authorization.
- Scrape, crawl, reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code, except where permitted by law.
- Use bots or automation to disrupt or overload the Service.
6) User content (including audio contributions)
The Service may allow you to submit content such as text, translations, comments, images, or audio recordings (“User Content”). You retain ownership of your User Content.
However, to operate and improve the Service, you grant Minoko a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, modify (for formatting and compatibility), distribute, publicly display, and create derivative works from your User Content, to the extent necessary to:
- Provide the Service to you and other users (where applicable),
- Maintain and improve features (including pronunciation, audio matching, and learning quality),
- Promote the Service using aggregated or non-identifying content (unless you explicitly consent otherwise).
If you submit voice recordings or pronunciation samples, you acknowledge they may be used to deliver audio features and improve the platform. See the Privacy Policy for details on how personal data is processed.
7) Intellectual property
The Service (including software, design, logos, and curated educational content) is owned by Minoko or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. You receive a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for its intended purpose.
8) Paid subscriptions, billing, and in-app purchases
Minoko may offer paid subscriptions and other paid features (“Paid Services”). If you purchase a subscription, it may renew automatically until you cancel, subject to the terms shown at checkout and the rules of your payment provider.
- App Store / Google Play: billing, renewals, and refunds are handled by Apple/Google under their policies.
- Website payments: billing may be processed by third-party payment providers (e.g., Stripe) and subject to their terms.
EU/EEA digital services note: where applicable, if you start using digital content or services immediately after purchase, you may be asked to consent to immediate performance and acknowledge that you may lose any statutory right of withdrawal that would otherwise apply.
9) Refunds and cancellations
Refund availability depends on where you purchased:
- App Store / Google Play: refunds follow Apple/Google rules.
- Website: refunds/cancellations follow the terms shown at checkout and applicable consumer laws.
10) Third-party services
The Service may include third-party links or integrations (hosting, analytics, payments). We are not responsible for third-party services and outages.
11) Hosting (Europe)
Minoko is hosted in Europe (EU/EEA) and may use infrastructure providers in Europe and/or other regions. Data processing is described in our Privacy Policy, including any applicable safeguards for international transfers.
12) Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free operation, or specific learning outcomes.
13) Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Minoko is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, including loss of profits, loss of data, or business interruption.
Where liability cannot be excluded, Minoko’s liability is limited to the amount paid by you to Minoko for the Service in the 12 months prior to the event giving rise to the claim, or the minimum amount permitted by law.
14) Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or to protect users and the Service.
15) Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If changes are material, we will provide reasonable notice. Continued use of the Service means acceptance of the updated Terms.
16) Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of Norway. Courts located in Sarpsborg, Norway will have jurisdiction, unless mandatory consumer protection laws provide otherwise.
